From the American continent to Europe: nativity associations from eighteen countries around the world gathered in Seville for the international conference that falls in the very year of the commemoration of the 800th anniversary of St. Francis’ Greccio nativity scene.
The International Nativity Congress in Seville has just concluded to the great satisfaction of the organizers and participants.
It was an intense five days full of meetings, activities and exhibitions of the highest level. In Spain, nativity scenes are particularly heartfelt, and the Spanish masters, who have set the standard all over the world, enthusiastically continue to keep this tradition alive. The conference was an opportunity to meet all the key players in the international nativity community, from masters to the younger generation of prespists and figurine makers who are already established internationally thanks to social media. Scholars, consevatories, and directors of museums and institutions that preserve and enhance nativity scenes in the various participating nations are not mammed then. A panel discussion provided an opportunity for discussion and a focus on the nativity scene of the future. The international federation “Universalis Foederatio Praesepistica” presented here the annual report of its activities and all the initiatives planned for the 800th anniversary of the Greccio crib that will take place this Christmas in the Franciscan places par excellence.
Present for the Nativity Museum was its curator Barbara Crivellari, a scholar of nativity scenes.
